Study of the Adhesion of Silicate-Based Coating Formulations on a Wood Substrate

Silicate coatings are environmentally friendly inorganic-based products that have long been used for mineral substrates and protection of steel against corrosion. The development acceptance these in the wood sector require some adjustments formulations or special preparation surface to be coated obtain durable finishes. In this work, adhesion various silicate-based a beech substrate (Fagus sylvatica L.), was assessed with main objective study relevant parameters potential improvements. Adhesion strength determined by pull-off cross-cut tests. Other coating properties such as scratch, impact, water resistance were also determined.
